Bill Garner is a shareholder and co-chair of the Energy & Natural Resources Practice of Greenberg Traurig LLP. Greenberg Traurig is a global law firm with 2,300 lawyers in 40 offices. 

Historically his career has involved the upstream, midstream and downstream natural gas and liquids sectors, today he primarily focuses on renewable natural gas, biofuels, carbon sequestration and hydrogen projects.  He is the lead project development attorney for Summit Carbon Solutions, the largest carbon sequestration project in the world.  He also is the lead outside project development attorney for a large, U.S. blue hydrogen project and a major green ammonia project in west Texas.  Further, he works on legal issues pertaining to the development, gas sales, and financing of renewable natural gas projects.  He is leading a project team in advising clients on the global implications of the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism which is proposed to take full effect in 2026.

Bill is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and Southern Methodist University School of Law. He is the former general counsel of KN Energy (now Tallgrass and Black Hills) and Spectra Energy (now Enbridge).  He also is a former energy investment banker with Petrie Parkman & Co.  In 2019, Law360, recognized him as one of the five U.S. energy lawyers chosen as an Energy MVP.   He is also listed in Euromoney’s Expert Guide to the World’s Leading Experts in Energy Law and Legal 500, in addition to being recognized as “Highly Regarded” for Project Development by IFLR1000.
